Rash of Violence at start of Weekend in Chicago

There is a rash of violence in Chicago as the weekend starts. The authorities say that at least 31 people were shot in the first 12 hours of the weekend in Chicago. Four people are dead due to the gun violence. The Chicago Police say that the authorities respond to a ShotSpotter gunshot detection alert discovered the latest homicide at 4:11 a.m. in the 7700 block of South Morgan in the South Side Gresham neighborhood.

A 29-year old was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center but couldn’t survive the attack. He was shot in the chest. On late Friday, two people were also killed in separate shootings occurred in Humboldt Park. Tabarie Nix was 24-years old and gunman had shot him in the neck and arm according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at Norwegian American Hospital.

An hour before that, Tellez Ricardo was shot when he was standing in 1500 block of North Keeler. He was shot when someone in a red car pulled up and fired shots at him. He was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center by couldn’t survive the gunshot wounds.

There were also shooting incidents in the Gresham neighborhood. Authorities say that Anthony Robinson was walking in the 1700 block of West 79th Street when a male fired shots at him. He was pronounced dead at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. There were also non-fatal shootings in the Gold Coast near Northwestern University’s Chicago campus.

Police say that a 28 and 26-year old were standing around 2 a.m. in the 300 block of East Chicago Avenue and heard gunshots. They realized that they were the ones shot. They saw several vehicles drive away from the scene. There has been rise in gun attacks in Chicago. 41 people were shot and seven were killed over the Memorial Day weekend.
