Savannah Circle Structure Fire

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — At 10:32 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 3, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a call for a structure fire at a two-story, wood-framed, single-family residence located in the 900 block of Savannah Circle. Naperville 911(PSAP) dispatched a general alarm assignment consisting of 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel, including an Incident Commander and Incident Safety Officer, to the reported address.

At 10:38 p.m. Engine 7 arrived on scene and identified smoke showing on the first floor of the two-story home. Incident command was established and Engine 7 conducted a 360-degree survey of the home. Fire companies quickly identified fire coming from the basement of the home. Engine 7 and Squad 8 utilized an aggressive interior attack with coordinated ventilation to extinguish the fire. Primary and secondary searches were conducted and two adult occupants were found to be out of the house prior to the arrival of fire department personnel.

Companies on scene conducted overhaul and ventilation to expose any areas of high heat and remove smoke from the home. The fire was contained to the area of origin and was deemed under control within 15 minutes. Occupants from the home told on-scene personnel that they called 911 due to the smell of smoke. Crews on scene noted there were no smoke detectors inside the home.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department. Station Coverage was provided by the Plainfield Fire Protection District and the Bolingbrook Fire Department. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Naperville Fire Department fire investigation team. There were no injuries to any occupants or firefighters while operating on scene. The building was deemed to be habitable by the Naperville Transportation, Engineering and Development Team.
