Unemployment rate decreases in twelve metropolitan areas of Illinois

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) released the preliminary data today. The data revealed that the unemployment rate decreased in twelve metropolitan areas of Illinois over-the-year in September. According to the data, the unemployment rate remained unchanged in one metropolitan area and increased in one area.

The preliminary data stated that the number of nonfarm jobs decreased in one area while increased in thirteen Illinois metropolitan areas. Dan Haynes, the deputy governor of Illinois, said, “The Pritzker administration remains dedicated to creating positive economic advances.” Hynes highlighted the importance of the Rebuild Illinois capital bill. He said that the Rebuild Illinois capital bill would make critical investments throughout the state. The aim of Illinois’ administration is to create an economy that works for everyone.

The preliminary data revealed that the Carbondale-Marion area showed the largest percentage increase in terms of job creation. The percentage increase in jobs remained at 2.7% here. The Lake-Kenosha area showed a 2.6% increase in terms of the businesses that added jobs. The Champaign-Urbana area hit a 2.4 % increase in the unemployment rate.

The nonfarm jobs decreased in the Peoria MSA by 0.8 %. The metro division of Chicago-Naperville-Arlington Heights hit a 0.7% increase in the unemployment rate. The industry sectors showed job growth in most of the metropolitan areas. Mining and Construction, Education and Health Services, Government, Transportation, Warehousing and Utilities, Leisure and Hospitality, and Manufacturing sectors grew in terms of jobs.

The Pritzker administration is working hard to provide a better environment for the workers of Illinois. Pritzker said that he considered the workers of Illinois the fundamentals of their economy. The improvement in the unemployment rate is an example in this regard.
