Zinckernagel Earns Spot in MLS Team of the Matchday

Chicago Fire FC winger Philip Zinckernagel has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday
for Matchday 21 following his standout performance in the club’s 3–2 victory over Charlotte FC
at Soldier Field.

The 2025 MLS All-Star recorded both his eighth goal and eighth assist of the season during the
match, setting a new club record by reaching these stats in just 17 appearances. He opened the
scoring in the 23rd minute after receiving a pass from Jonathan Dean and calmly finishing past
goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina. Minutes later, he provided the assist for midfielder Brian
Gutiérrez’s goal, doubling the lead.

With that, Zinckernagel surpassed Roman Kosecki’s longstanding record from 1998, becoming
the fastest player in club history to reach eight goals and eight assists.

This is Zinckernagel’s third inclusion in the MLS Team of the Matchday this season—he
appeared in the Starting XI on Matchday 5 and was named to the bench on Matchday 17. Head
coach Nico Estévez also selected him for the 2025 MLS All-Star Team, highlighting his
consistency this season.

Chicago Fire FC will next face FC Cincinnati on July 5 at TQL Stadium. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.
CT, with streaming available via the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. Local radio coverage will
be provided by wlsam.com (English) and Que Buena Fire on the Uforia App (Spanish).
