49ers Announce Staff Promotions and New Hire for 2025

The San Francisco 49ers have announced a series of front – office promotions and a new hire as
the team prepares for the 2025 NFL season. In total, ten staff members have been elevated to
new roles across personnel, analytics, and communications, while Benjamin Klein joins the team
as a new addition to the R&D unit.

Among the most notable moves:
  • Tariq Ahmad has been promoted to Vice President, Player Personnel, after serving as
  • Director of Player Personnel in 2024. In his 11th season with the 49ers, Ahmad oversees
    college scouting operations and talent evaluations ahead of the NFL Draft and free
    agency.
    RJ Gillen, entering his 10th season, has moved up to Assistant General Manager from
    Director of Player Personnel. He manages pro scouting and collaborates closely with the
    coaching staff on advanced scouting and acquisitions.
  • Brian Hampton, a 21-year veteran with the 49ers, has also been named Assistant General
    Manager. He previously served as Vice President of Football Administration and now
    leads contract strategy, roster planning, and salary cap management.
  • Corry Rush has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Communications. Now in
    his fifth season with the franchise, Rush continues to oversee both football
    communications and community relations.


Other promotions include:

  • Jordan Fox to Player Personnel Scout (formerly analyst)
  • Jason Kwon to Area Scout (formerly scouting assistant)
  • Matt Ploenzke to Vice President, Football R&D (formerly director)
  • Shravan Ramamurthy to Manager, Football R&D (formerly data scientist)
  • Ryan Schutta to Pro Scout (formerly analyst)


The team has also hired Benjamin Klein as an R&D Performance Analyst. Klein brings
experience from Michigan State University’s men’s basketball program and has worked with FC
Cincinnati (MLS), the Chicago Bulls (NBA), and the UFC.


These strategic promotions and additions reflect the 49ers’ ongoing commitment to
strengthening their football operations through advanced analytics, scouting depth, and
organizational leadership.
