Snowstorm hits Denver International Airport, hundreds of flights canceled

Hundreds of flights have been canceled at the Denver International Airport due to the heavy snow. The crews were seen clearing the snow from the runways. Alex Renteria, the spokeswoman of the Denver International Airport, said that at least 1100 passengers spent Monday night at the airport due to a major snowstorm.

A major snowstorm hit the metropolitan area of Denver on Monday. The storm compelled hundreds of passengers to stay inside the airport whole night. The airport workers helped the passengers by giving them blankets and other necessary items for spending the night. The restaurant stayed open longer than usual for aiding the forced passengers to stay at the airport, according to Renteria.

The airport administration handed out baby formula and diapers as well to the passengers. The weather officials said that 7 inches of snow fell on Tuesday. The airport officials told the media that 475 flights were canceled on Tuesday. Many flights were delayed as well due to the heavy snowfall in the Denver area.

The airport crews were busy keeping the runways clear with the aid of more than 20 pieces of equipment on Tuesday. They used snowplows, sand trucks, and brooms for keeping the runways clear and open on Tuesday. According to weather officials, more snow is expected in the area. It was an emergency situation at the airport after the snowstorm hit the metro area of Denver on Monday.

The National Weather Service said that twenty-one inches of snow fell in Boulder, a nearby area of Denver. A powerful storm is going to hit the Rockies. The blizzard conditions have moved out of Colorado at the moment. The airport crews are working hard for clearing the runways. The airport officials said that seven inches of snow fell on Tuesday. 1100 passengers were forced to spend Monday night at the airport due to a major snowstorm.
