Authorities recognize the body recovered from Lake Michigan on August 1

A man went missing while hopping between boats in Navy Pier. The authorities have confirmed that the body found in Lake Michigan was of him.

Oluwafemi Labinjo’s body was recovered by the rescuer from Lake Michigan on August 1 near the Gold Coast. Chicago police said, “The Marine Unit of the Chicago Police Department received a call of a person drowning in the water at about 6:45 pm”. The unit responded to the call and recovered the body of Labinjo from the water. The body was sent to the hospital for autopsy. The result of the autopsy was pending Tuesday, according to the Cook County’s medical examiner’s office.

Labinjo was last seen on July 27 hopping between the boats. He was missing for nearly a week, according to the police. Danielle Mitchell, a friend of Labinjo, said in a Facebook post that he was a good guy, a great father, and a coach. He coached at-risk youth and he was the father of a daughter. Cook County’s medical examiner office has confirmed his death on the base of the results of an autopsy.

Mitchell said in her post, “I am devastated of hearing of your passing.” Her post also said, “This hurts and my heart hurts for your daughter and the void that was forever created.” The investigators of Area Central are investigating the death of Labinjo.

Labinjo was missing for almost a week and he was last seen hopping between the boats in Navy Pier. His was taken to the area hospital after being recovered from Lake Michigan. The authorities were waiting for the results of the autopsy before confirming his death. The autopsy report was pending Tuesday afternoon which proved that it was Labinjo’s body. He was an adoring father and a coach of at-risk youth. His friend called him a good guy in her Facebook post. She felt hurt for his daughter as he loved her a lot.
