Blue Jays Win 10th Straight in Rain-Shortened Game
The Toronto Blue Jays extended their winning streak to 10 games Tuesday night with a 6–1 rain-
shortened win over the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field. The game was called in the
top of the seventh inning following a one-hour, 24-minute rain delay.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. led the way for Toronto with two hits and two RBIs, while Davis
Schneider added a solo home run. The Blue Jays remain in first place in the American League
East, now enjoying their longest winning streak since 2015, when they won 12 in a row.

A five-run third inning proved to be the difference, as Toronto out-hit Chicago 12–4. Schneider
began the rally with a leadoff homer before Guerrero Jr. doubled in a run. Addison Barger
followed with an RBI double, Alejandro Kirk singled in another, and Joey Loperfido drove in a
run with a groundout.

Toronto’s offense kept rolling, with George Springer, Kirk, and Loperfido each collecting two
hits. That provided plenty of run support for Chris Bassitt (9–4), who allowed just four hits and
one run across six innings. The only blemish came from a solo homer by Josh Rojas in the sixth.
Bassitt threw just 78 pitches before the delay ended his night early. He struck out one and walked
one.

On the mound for Chicago, Aaron Civale struggled once again. He fell to 1–6, giving up five
runs on seven hits across four innings. Civale has now lost four of his five starts since joining the
White Sox in mid-June.

Chicago had a brief scoring opportunity in the bottom of the first, when Mike Tauchman doubled
and Lenyn Sosa was hit by a pitch. But Bassitt escaped the jam, retiring the next two batters,
including a double-play grounder from Miguel Vargas.

Luis Robert Jr. returned to the White Sox lineup after a stint on the injured list with a strained
left hamstring, going 1-for-2. Originally slated to start in left field, Brooks Baldwin was
scratched before the game due to lower back tightness and was replaced by Austin Slater.
Guerrero Jr. capped the scoring with an RBI single in the sixth inning before the rain took over
and sealed the win for Toronto.
