Douglas A. Brown, the chief utility officer, released press news about the next meeting of the City of Springfield Public Utilities. According to the press release, the next meeting of the City of Springfield Public Utilities will be held on December 11, 2019, at 5:30 pm. The meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers located at 300 S. Seventh Street, 3rd Floor.
The City Water, Light, and Power (CWLP) will provide an update on the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP). It is included in the agenda of the meeting. The current and future power options will also be discussed in the meeting. A utility presentation will be presented at the meeting. The presentation will focus on the purpose and results of the IRP.
The residents of Springfield have already given their feedback about the IRP. The presentation will discuss the public comments in the presentation. The IRP officials will also talk about the additional findings of their study on the current and future electric power resources. The Municipal Channel 18 will broadcast the meeting live. The Energy Authority (TEA) conducted the IRP work. The purpose of the TEA’s study was to find the best and reliable sources of electricity for the CWLP.
The study focused on finding the cheap and reliable energy resources for the fulfillment of the future energy needs of Springfield. The TEA gathered and analyzed the existing data from the resources used by the CWLP. It also analyzed the other resources including wind, solar, natural gas, and many others. TEA recommended the closure of Dallman Unit 1, 2, and 3 by 2020.
