Des Plaines man dies of cold exposure, fifth cold-related death of the season

Cook County medical examiner’s office released a report of the death of a Des Plaines man. The report revealed that a 64-year-old man died of cold exposure with cardiovascular disease. It was the fifth cold-related death of the season in Cook County.

Des Plaines police received a report on Friday, November 29, 2019, at about 8:57 pm. A male resident of the 500 block of Florian Drive was reported unresponsive and fire/paramedics were called. The male resident was pronounced dead on the scene. The Cook County medical examiner’s office said that it was the fifth cold-related death of the season in Cook County.

The cardiovascular disease was the contributing factor in the death of Des Plaines man, according to the autopsy results. He died of cold exposure, the report revealed. According to the office of the medical examiner of Cook County, it was an accidental death. The man was recognized as a resident of Des Plaines.

In recent weeks, four other cold-related deaths have been reported. On October 27, 2019, a Chicago man, 70-year-old, was found dead due to the cold exposure in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago. Another man, 54-year-old, was reported dead of cold exposure in Oak Forest on October 22, 2019.

The third case was reported on November 11, 2019, in Garfield Park, Chicago. A 56-year-old man died of cardiovascular disease with cold exposure in the Garfield Park neighborhood. In the Avondale neighborhood of Chicago, a homeless man was pronounced dead of cold exposure on November 1, 2019. It was the fifth cold-related death of the season in Cook County. The death of the homeless man was the first cold-related death of the season, according to the medical examiner’s office.
