Father of drowned girl in the US sues Wim ‘Iceman’ Hof

‘Iceman’ Wim Hof has been held liable for the death of a 17-year-old girl in the United States in August of last year. Her father, a lawyer, is seeking compensation of nearly 60 million USD from Hof and his company, Innerfire.

Hof’s son, Enahm Hof, told that they feel very sorry for what happened to the girl, but that the company and his father are not responsible for her death. According to him, the case has no chance of success.

On August 10 last year, when Raphael Metzger returned from a dinner, he found his daughter, Madelyn Rose, dead in the swimming pool behind their house in Long Beach, California. Investigations revealed that she had no health problems and had not used any drugs.

Metzger claims that his daughter was introduced to Hof’s training method through her mother, which was supposed to make people stronger and healthier. The method involves breathing exercises that can cause temporary loss of consciousness.

His daughter is said to have performed the exercises near or in the swimming pool, lost consciousness, and subsequently drowned. Her computer search history shows that she had looked up pages related to Hof’s method.

Enahm Hof states that the company always warns people to perform the exercises in a safe environment.

On our website, in our videos, everywhere, it is stated that our breathing exercises should not be done in water, let alone underwater. Not on a bike or in a car either, but in a safe place, sitting or lying on the ground.

The girl’s father has also held her mother, his ex-partner, responsible.

But he also wants to see money, that’s why he’s coming after us.

According to Enahm Hof, this claim is baseless, including the formal grounds that the company has not sold any products to residents of California. Therefore, the case should not be admissible.
