Iconic pink house in Austin neighborhood needs repairing: Family starts fundraising

The Pink and White house in Austin is an iconic place of West Side. The house has been a neighborhood landmark for 30 years. It is located on North Central Avenue and Ohio Street. The Anderson family asks for help from their community. The house has not been repaired after the passing of their father.

Anderson’s father took care of the house brilliantly. Yolanda Anderson, co-owner of the house, said that the house had a lot of cuts and nicks and bruises. Yolanda said, “Our house is just like the West Side Chicago, you will see a lot of cuts when you will first look at it”. “When you will look deep into it then you will see a lot of love and strength in the community”, Yolanda said.

The parents of Anderson grew up in the colorful houses on the South Side. Wilhelmina Anderson, the mother of Yolanda Anderson, said, “We tried to bring some love and colors of the home down south where we came from”. Wilhelmina’s husband was the repairer of the house and he died two years ago. The issues started with the family and the house after the passing of Wilhelmina’s husband.

The ceiling, roof, fence, electricity, and porch issues started to affect the quality of life of Anderson’s family. The repairing costs are out of range of the family and they intended to sell the house on the market. They realized that the money would not be enough for their relocation after getting the buying offers for the house. Jeanne Keating, a realtor from At properties encouraged the family to try the option of crowdsourcing.

The family decided to raise the funds for the house and they have started the Anderson family’s GoFundMe Campaign. The family aims to generate at least $300000 for the restoration and repairing of their house. They will spend this money on the repairing of the roof, ceiling, and electrical wiring of the house. The plan is to generate enough money to restore the house before the winter.
