Kane County Division of Transportation seeks public input to improve traffic on Randall Road

The Kane County Division of Transportation (KDOT) is seeking public input on different ways to improve the traffic on Randall Road at I-90. The feasibility study of Randall Road/I-90 has been launched by the KDOT. The study will focus on the ways to improve traffic on Randall Road between Big Timber Road and IL Route 72.

According to the KDOT, most of the drivers face congestion, time delays, and traffic conflicts between Big Timber Road on the south and IL Route 72 on the north. The officials from KDOT said in a press release, “The study will identify the high level or critical elements of engineering.” According to the press release, the study will also identify the impacts on stakeholders and the public.

The feasibility study will determine if the project should move on to the development stage in which the designing and construction will be done. The long-range issues will be wrestled in the study, according to the KDOT officials. The study will focus on finding the answers to the questions like: –

  • How will this corridor serve the future needs of the community?
  • How will the corridor look like?
  • How will the corridor be operated?

The feasibility study will focus on various aspects including the traffic patterns, the traffic volume, cost, safety, drainage requirements, the state of bridges, existing utilities, and many more. The KDOT officials are looking for stakeholder input and community input in this regard. Burns McDonnell, an engineering consultancy firm, will carry out the feasibility study, according to the KDOT.

The public is advised to participate in the study through the project website. The KDOT has launched a new project website that can be visited at http://randallover90.com/. The first public meeting will be held in spring 2020. The officials are collecting data at this time and the project is at its beginning stage. The recommendations will be made after the successful competition of the study.
