Ohtani, Torres Lead 2025 MLB All-Star Game Lineups

The stage is set for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game, with both leagues revealing their starting lineups for Tuesday night’s showdown in Atlanta. All eyes are on Shohei Ohtani and Gleyber Torres, who have been named leadoff hitters for the National and American Leagues, respectively.

National League manager Dave Roberts, who also manages Ohtani for the Los Angeles Dodgers, kept consistency at the top by slotting in the two-way superstar as the designated hitter and leadoff man, just as he’s done all season. Ohtani, the top vote-getter during Phase 1 of fan balloting, is expected to be a focal point of the game.

Joining Ohtani in the NL lineup are Atlanta’s Ronald Acuña Jr. (left field) in the second spot and Arizona’s Ketel Marte (second base) in the third. The cleanup role is held by the Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman (first base), followed by Manny Machado (third base, San Diego Padres), Will Smith (catcher, Dodgers), Kyle Tucker (right field, Cubs), Francisco Lindor (shortstop, Mets), and Pete Crow-Armstrong (center field, Cubs).

Starting on the mound for the National League will be Pittsburgh Pirates phenom Paul Skenes, a rising star with major strikeout power.

On the American League side, Yankees manager Aaron Boone made a strategic change, placing his usual No. 2 hitter, Gleyber Torres, at the top of the lineup. Torres will be followed by Detroit Tigers’ Riley Greene (left field), with Yankees slugger Aaron Judge (right field) batting third. Judge led all players in fan voting during Phase 1.

The heart of the AL order includes Cal Raleigh (catcher, Mariners) in the cleanup spot, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (first base, Blue Jays), Ryan O’Hearn (designated hitter, Orioles), Junior Caminero (third base, Rays), Javier Baez (center field, Tigers), and Jacob Wilson (shortstop, Athletics).

Starting pitcher duties for the AL will fall to Tigers ace Tarik Skubal, who’s had a breakout year on the mound.

The American League has historically dominated the All-Star Game, winning 10 of the last 11 matchups. The only National League victory during that stretch came in 2023 in Seattle.

With star power on both sides and a stacked Atlanta crowd, Tuesday’s matchup promises excitement, elite talent, and perhaps a changing of the guard
