Join Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Freeport, for their annual 12th Night Nativity Display. Held on Monday January 6, the 12th Night Nativity Display is a feast of nativity scenes. There will be over 100 unique nativities displayed, along with a live nativity, a nativity tree, Christmas music, and refreshments. The Nativity display is open from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.
Prince of Peace welcomes the community to come and enjoy the evening’s offerings.
Many of the nativity scenes that will be on display are unique. There is a Native American nativity scene, one from Mexico, and others from other countries. They range in size from very small, to extensive. There will be a “Seek and Find” activity, to help those attending seek out the smaller details.
In the Christian church, Christmas is a season that lasts twelve days, beginning on 25 December and ending on the Festival of the Epiphany – 6 January. The Epiphany is the day that celebrates the arrival of the Magi (wise men) to worship Jesus. Along their journey from their home in the East, the Magi followed a star placed in the sky the night of Jesus’ birth.
This is the twelfth year that Prince of Peace has offered the 12th Night Nativity Display to the community. All are invited to come and make this event part of their worship of Jesus this holiday season.
In the spirit of the Magi, who brought gifts to the infant Jesus, those attending are invited to bring offerings of non-perishable food items and personal hygiene items, which will be given to FACC to assist those in need.
