Public Comment for CMOM Plan opens

The City of Naperville public will have an opportunity to give their feedback about the plan that encompasses the management and operation of Naperville’s sanitary sewer system. The city is giving the public to express themselves as feedback will be accepted through December 15.

Naperville’s sanitary sewer system will be studied through the city’s Capacity, Management, Operations and Maintenance (CMOM) plan. Springbrook Water Reclamation Center can’t operate with the CMOM as is part of the permit requirements.

Director of Water and Wastewater Utility Darrell Blenniss said, “The public review period is an opportunity for Naperville citizens to understand and provide input on a report that impacts their daily lives.”

Blenniss added that “As a City, we pride ourselves in being transparent and open to resident input, the Water Utility team looks forward to optimizing our City’s sanitary sewer system.”

Naperville’s full CMOM includes the following things:

  • an action plan to correct identified structural deficiencies/capacity constraints
  • a formalized asset management program
  • design and performance monitoring
  • an Overflow Response Plan
  • a System Evaluation Plan
  • a Reporting and Monitoring Plan
  • and a Third Party Notification Plan

You can get hard copies of the plan at all Naperville libraries and the City Clerk’s office. You can go to Naperville.il.us/napervillecmom to get the online version. You can submit your feedback to cmom@naperville.il.us through December 15.
