Wall of 645 000 Red Poppies in Washington to Honor Memorial Day

WASHINGTON – A wall of 645 000 red poppies was created in Washington to honor soldiers that died in armed conflicts in which the USA have taken part.

Red Poppy is a well-known symbol of grieve for those military men died in conflicts around the world. People from France, Canada, Australia, and other countries use red flowers to honor veterans.

On the Memorial Day this year a huge installation was created on the National Mall. 645 000 Americans died in the wars since World War I. The same quantity of flowers was placed on the exposition.

The exposition is sponsored by volunteer organizations, it is accessible for three days. The main goal of organizers is to educate Americans, tell more about military service and support those people who had lost their relatives or friends in the conflicts.

The Poppy Memorial is surrounded with the other memorials. There is Lincoln Memorial to the west of it, Korean War Memorial – to the south, Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool to the north and World War II memorial to the east.
