Rep. Stephanie Kifowit urges veterans to volunteer with foster children

Rep. Stephanie Kifowit joined a group of bipartisan legislators for fighting to advocate for the vulnerable children in the local communities of Illinois. She joined the representatives of the Illinois Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). The Illinois CASA and Kefowit called on the veterans to volunteer with the local foster children.

Kifowit urged the veterans to consider training with their local CASA organization. She said, “Veterans are unique in that we are very mission-driven, and this is exactly the trait that children need on their behalf”. The children, who have been abused or neglected, need advocates and there is a shortage of advocates for this purpose, she told.

Kifowit called on the fellow veterans to fill up the gap and join her. She is the chairman of the Illinois House Veteran Affairs Committee and a US Marine Corps veteran. She urged the local veterans to come forward and volunteer their time with foster children. The mission of the Illinois CASA is to provide an opportunity for every abused or neglected child to thrive in a loving and safe home.

Kafowit said that she was concerned about the shortage of advocates at the Illinois CASA. That is why she urged the veterans to step up and volunteer. The judges appoint the Illinois CASA volunteers to advocate for the best future of the abused children. The volunteers advocate for the loving and safe home for the foster children so that they get out of the child welfare system

Kefowit said, “Veterans believe that no one should be left behind, and these children are being left behind.” She hoped that the veterans would come up and serve the local children. She said that the veterans would come forward for that noble cause of advocating for the most vulnerable children in the state of Illinois.
