Chicago Fire II Loans Cassano to FC Lugano

Chicago Fire FC II has confirmed that forward Claudio Cassano will join FC Lugano on loan for the 2025-2026 Swiss Super League season.

Cassano, 21, established himself as one of the top performers in MLS NEXT Pro this year. He started all 21 matches for Chicago Fire II in 2025 and became the first player in club history to register both 10 goals and 10 assists in a single season. His 10 assists currently tie him with Rafael Mosquera of New York Red Bulls II for the league lead.

Career Path Before Chicago

Before signing with Chicago Fire II, Cassano spent six years in the AS Roma youth system. In August 2023, he moved to Serie B side AS Cittadella, where he made his league debut on August 26, 2023, playing 32 minutes in a 2-0 win over Parma.

During his time at Cittadella, Cassano appeared in 42 matches, contributing four goals and three assists.

Official Confirmation

The club released a statement: “Chicago Fire FC II has loaned forward Claudio Cassano to FC Lugano for the 2025-2026 Swiss Super League season.”
