Chicago Fire Kicks Off Season’s Second Half vs. Union

Chicago Fire FC will launch the second half of its 2025 Major League Soccer season with a
high-stakes home game against Philadelphia Union on Wednesday, June 25, at Soldier Field. The
match follows a strong stretch for Chicago, which recently wrapped up a five-game East Coast
road trip and a home fixture against Nashville SC. The team currently holds a record of 7 wins, 6
losses, and 4 draws.

Philadelphia arrives in Chicago fresh off a narrow win over Charlotte FC, a result that placed
them two points ahead of the Fire in the Supporters’ Shield standings. The deciding goal was
delivered late in the match by forward Markus Anderson, solidifying Philadelphia’s lead in the
Eastern Conference.

This game offers a critical opportunity for Chicago to build momentum as they begin a three-
game homestand. Both clubs rank among the most prolific scorers in the league—Chicago has
netted 35 goals this season, while Philadelphia follows closely with 34. Defensively, however,
Philadelphia holds an edge, having allowed only 19 goals so far this year.

Midfielder Mauricio Pineda is expected to be central to Chicago’s efforts with his precise
passing and defensive awareness. Veteran defender Omar González is also approaching a
significant milestone: 300 career regular-season matches played in MLS.

Leading the Fire’s offensive push is Philip Zinckernagel, who currently boasts 14 goal
contributions this season. He’ll be looking to extend his scoring streak against a tough
Philadelphia defense. Teammates Andrew Gutman and Jonathan Bamba have also played key
roles in maintaining Chicago’s competitiveness throughout the first half of the season.

Fans can catch the action worldwide via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. Locally, the match will
be available on wlsam.com and Que Buena Fire through the Uforia app.
