Celebrini’s Hat Trick Lifts Sharks; NHL Monday Recap

Macklin Celebrini recorded his third career hat trick, capping the night with an overtime winner to lift the San Jose Sharks to a 3–2 victory over the visiting Utah Mammoth on Monday.

Celebrini buried the game-winning power-play shot at 2:52 of overtime, snapping a three-game goalless stretch and preventing a third straight San Jose loss. Will Smith added two assists, and Yaroslav Askarov made 24 saves as the Sharks improved to 5-3-3 at home and 9-4-1 over their last 14 games.

Utah’s JJ Peterka scored both goals for the Mammoth, who fell to 2-5-3 in their past 10 contests and suffered their third consecutive 3–2 overtime defeat. Former Shark Vitek Vanecek stopped 19 shots.

At 19 years old, Celebrini became just the third teenager in NHL history to reach 30 points in his first 20 games of a season, joining Wayne Gretzky and Sidney Crosby.

William Nylander scored at 4:06 of overtime as Toronto snapped a five-game losing streak with a home win over St. Louis.

Jake McCabe and Steven Lorentz also scored, and goaltender Joseph Woll, making only his second start of the season, recorded 28 saves. Forward Matthew Knies missed the game due to a lower-body injury.

The Blues received goals from Nathan Walker and Dalibor Dvorsky, while Jordan Binnington stopped 26 shots to open a five-game road trip.

Rookie forward Nate Danielson scored his first NHL goal and added an assist, while captain Dylan Larkin reached the 600-point milestone in Detroit’s win over Seattle.

Lucas Raymond, Emmitt Finnie, and Larkin also scored for the Red Wings, who are 3-0-1 in their past four games. Alex DeBrincat had two assists, and Cam Talbot made 20 saves.

Seattle’s goals came from Jordan Eberle and Ryker Evans, with Eeli Tolvanen registering two assists. Joey Daccord finished with 23 saves.

Jake Guentzel notched his eighth regular-season hat trick and Nikita Kucherov recorded his 366th career goal, moving to third on the Lightning’s all-time scoring list in Tampa Bay’s rout of New Jersey.

Darren Raddysh tallied a goal and two assists, and Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 31 shots as the Lightning earned their ninth win in 12 games.

Nico Hischier scored for the Devils, who fell to 4-1-1 in their last six. Jacob Markstrom made 24 saves.

Akira Schmid made 17 saves and Tomas Hertl posted two assists as Vegas halted New York’s six-game road winning streak.

Goals from Braeden Bowman, Ben Hutton, and Shea Theodore helped the Golden Knights break a four-game home skid. They are 2-0-2 in their past four games overall.

The Rangers got goals from Jonny Brodzinski and Vincent Trocheck, while Igor Shesterkin recorded 23 saves. New York took only its second regulation loss in 12 road games (9-2-1).

Bo Horvat and Kyle Palmieri scored third-period goals to lift the New York Islanders past Dallas, surviving a frantic late push from the Stars.

Rookie Calum Ritchie also scored, and David Rittich made 22 saves as New York improved to 5-1-0 on its seven-game road trip.

Dallas forward Jason Robertson scored both goals, including a 6-on-5 tally with 1:59 left. A potential tying goal by Wyatt Johnston with 0.1 seconds remaining was overturned due to goaltender interference by Robertson. Jake Oettinger made 19 saves.

Connor Bedard delivered his second career hat trick as the Chicago Blackhawks beat Calgary for their fifth win in six games.

Oliver Moore contributed a goal and an assist, Ryan Donato scored, and Arvid Soderblom made 19 saves. Chicago has earned 11 of its last 12 available points.

Calgary got goals from Rasmus Andersson and Matt Coronato, while Dustin Wolf stopped 18 shots. The Flames have dropped five of six and remain stuck at an NHL-low 13 points.

Mark Scheifele, already the franchise’s all-time leading scorer, became the Atlanta/Winnipeg organization’s games-played leader with his 898th appearance, marking the night with three assists in the Jets’ win over Columbus.

Neal Pionk, Kyle Connor, and Josh Morrissey each posted a goal and an assist, while Adam Lowry and Logan Stanley added goals. Eric Comrie stopped 20 of 22 shots.

Columbus had goals from Miles Wood and Zach Werenski, and Elvis Merzlikins made 25 saves. The loss ended the Blue Jackets’ five-game point streak (3-0-2).
