Great Lakes Academy  million renovation starts over Christmas holidays

The Great Lakes Academy at 8401 S. Saginaw is getting a $9 million renovation/expansion, according to a City of Chicago building permit issued on Dec. 29.

The permit says the project will result in a “change of occupancy of existing 16,917 sq. ft. church plus 15,185 sq. ft. basement” to a “gymnasium, cafeteria, and full service kitchen for existing school, plus new 4,003 sq. ft. 1-story addition.”

The general contractor is Bulley & Andrews LLC, which is also self-performing the masonry sub-trade. Other key subtrades include: Electrical – Proarc Electricplumber/plumbing – C.J. Erickson; and refrigeration and ventilation – Martin Petersen Company, Inc.
