Paramount Theatre launches Connection: A Social Media Concert Series

Paramount Theatre has launched Connection: A Social Media Concert Series. The Connection is an all-new online campaign that will help the artists and audiences to find new ways to connect as due to the COVID-19, people are asked to shelter in place. The multi-week virtual music theatre will help keep the bond strong among the artists and the audiences.

Connection will also encourage the artists to keep on working and creating new work and keep patrons entertained in an innovative new way. New Works Development Director, Paramount Theatre, Amber Mak, said: “In the few days we have all been advised to socially distance ourselves, it’s become clear that we need to find ways to stay in touch now more than ever.”

Mak added, “While we may not be able to bring you live theater right now, Paramount’s New Works Department has conceived this social media concert series to keep people connected until we can all see each other again at the theater.” Paramount’s New Works Department, every week for the next three weeks, will be unveiling a new theme for the series and post guidelines for submissions for that week’s topic.

Student Work will be the first weekly theme for the series. Student songwriters who won’t be going to their respective schools, colleges, etc. are encouraged to submit a video of their original work about their connection to their school. The deadline to submit is Wednesday, April 1, at midnight. You have to send the video to Paramount’s New Works Department at newworks@paramountarts.com.

Paramount’s New Works and Marketing departments will start working together to edit a video reel that assembles the featured musical entries. On  Saturday, April 4, at 8 p.m., the first Connection series compilation video will “drop” on Paramount’s website, ParamountAurora.com, and on Paramount’s Facebook, Instagram and YouTube pages for free public viewing.
