Future Pavilion at Knoch Knolls Park to be Named the Frank J. Rus Pavilion
At its July 28, 2022 meeting, the Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners approved a resolution to name the future pavilion at Knoch Knolls Park the Frank J. Rus Pavilion. The naming is to recognize a planned donation in the amount of $250,000 from the Frank J. Rus Trust to assist in funding the construction of the future pavilion and related site improvements.
The Frank J. Rus Trust previously donated nearly 40 acres of land to the Park District in 2021, creating the Frank Rus Preserve at Knoch Knolls Park. The new pavilion will support the Park District’s outdoor educational and recreational programs and provide visitors to the park with an area to picnic in a beautiful natural setting. The pavilion is proposed for the Upper Grove of Knoch Knolls Park, on the south side of the DuPage River, accessible from the bicycle/pedestrian bridge.
In accordance with Park District policies, on May 26, 2022 the Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners approved a resolution to begin a 60-day period of consideration prior to naming the pavilion the “Frank J. Rus Pavilion.” During the consideration period, the Park District received comments and questions with respect to the naming and concluded that there is community support for the future pavilion and the naming.
Construction of the pavilion is planned to begin in 2023.
