Steel fall against Gamblers at Resch Center in Green Bay: First defeat for Steel this season
The Green Bay Gamblers won against the Chicago Steel at the Resch Center in Green Bay. The Gamblers got momentum at the start of the first frame as they went to their first power play within the six minutes of the opening frame. Ian Shane, the netminder of the Chicago, saved a sure goal by showing his flexibility and skills.
Chad Hillebrand, the Gamblers’ forward, scored the first goal of the game in the thirteenth minute of the opening frame. The 1-0 lead of Gamblers did not last long as Brendan Brisson of the Steel scored a goal in the 20th minute. Both teams headed to the dressing room with a level score of 1-1. The Steel took the lead in the middle frame when Sam Colangelo, a forward centered of the Steel, scored his second goal of the season for his team. The Steel had got the lead of 2-1.
Hillebrand scored his second goal of the night for the Gamblers and leveled the game again with a score of 2-2. The game was leveled again with a score of 3-3 when only four minutes remained in the second frame. Matty De St. Phalle scored the third goal of the game for his team.
Hollebrand had a dream game as he scored his third goal of the match and gave his team a lead of 4-3. In the final frame, Alex Servagno scored his third goal of the season and the Gamblers had a lead of 5-3 after that goal. The Steel had got a great chance to overcome the deficit in the third but they could not do so. They went to a power-play when five minutes were remaining in the game.
It was the first defeat for the Steel in the current season. The Gamblers’ defense stood strong in the match and prevented the Steel to overcome the deficit in the final frame. The Steel will play two games against the Youngstown Phantoms on Oct. 13, and Oct. 14.
