Arab League condemns Turkish military operation in Syria

The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and other members of the Arab League condemned the military operation of Turkey in the northeastern region of Syria. Saudi Arabia urged Turkey to stop its current military operation in Syria and said that it would increase the hardships of Syrians. An emergency meeting of the foreign ministers of the Arab League took place in Cairo on Saturday.

In the emergency meeting, all of the members considered the situation occurred in the northeastern region of Syria due to the Turkish military operation. Adil al-Jabir, the foreign minister of Saudi Arabia, said that Saudi Arabia emphasized the need for a political solution for the Syrian crisis. He added that Saudi Arabia demanded the withdrawal of all foreign forces from Syria.

Anwar Gargash, the United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, condemned the military operation in Turkey in Syria. He urged the international community to play its role in stopping the Turkish military operation in Syria. He said, “Along with Turkey and its forces, we demand the withdrawal of all foreign military forces from this Arab country and we emphasize the need for a political solution.”

Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the minister of foreign affairs of Bahrain, condemned the aggression against the Arab countries from any party. He emphasized on the Arab countries to overcome the challenges in the way of the Arab national security. Gebran Bassil, the foreign minister of Lebanon, participated in the meeting of the Arab League and condemned the attacks on Syria. He said that it was the time for the inclusion of Syria in the Arab League. He added that the protection of the region was in the best interest of the Arab countries.

Turkey started a military operation against the Kurdish forces after the withdrawal of the US from Syria. The Arab countries condemned the current military operation of Turkey in Syria in the emergency meeting of the Arab League.
